This program is for students who are interested in exploring Rap Music as a creative tool for personal empowerment and learning. This program will focus on the most popular element of Hip Hop culture, Rap, as a vehicle for addressing self esteem, self awareness, and social responsibilities. Participants will receive concentrated instruction and development in the field of Rap and digital music production to fully understand the history and origins of Hip Hop culture as a whole, and to recognize its ability as an effective tool for personal and social change. Week after week, instructors will teach and guide participants in areas such as creative writing and live performance while developing their social awareness as artists.
